Hello. My name is Mandee Anderson. I am currently a junior at Newmarket Jr./ Sr. high school. First of all, I’d like to thank the people who support the school to career partnership. The people who are involved in this partnership are wonderful. The program does so much for everyone. Ms. Winterbottom takes a lot of time to find job shadows, job opportunities, and volunteer work for each student. The job shadow that I went on last spring was at the Water Street bookstore in Exeter. I spent the day with a nice lady named Ms. Whaley. Although I decided that I did not like that occupation because of how lonely it can be, it was still a very enjoyable experience. I appreciate all the work hat everyone did so I didn’t make a wrong choice with my career.

Next, I’d like to thank the guidance department for helping the students get to where they want to be. Mr. Pavlidis is always there to answer the smallest question or sit down and have a long discussion. The guidance department has helped me and my parents find out about scholarships, and other opportunities that we never would have known about. You can always find Mrs. LaBranche running around: solving problems with our grades and classes, setting up meetings and continuously fixing the printer! Both the school to career and the guidance department work hand-in-hand to develop a future for every student. They know each student by name, and everything is a one-on-one discussion.

I’d also like to thank the members of the community. Some of the local businesses ask Ms. Winterbottom to announce job openings. That is how I got my job at Proulx oil. These businesses realize teenagers can be hard workers, and that we do need gas money! At Proulx oil and other local companies, the employees and owners all know each other and this helps to instill a sense of trustworthiness in the job setting. So to everyone who is a sponsor of the school to Career Partnership, I would like to let you know what big help you are.

Last, but not least, I’d like to thank the families who are here today. I know that a lot of kids don’t have support from their families. That’s why I’d like to thank my family for supporting me. It’s been a tough couple of years and they’ve always been there. Since I have been diagnosed with type one diabetes and it’s been stressful- but they’ve always been there. And that’s exactly what all these wonderful people do- support us and make us better people. Thank You.
